Micah Caskey defeated Melanie Shull by 26 votes in the GOP Primary for the SC House District 89 seat. There will be an automatic recount because of the closeness of the race.

The seat covers parts of West Columbia, Cayce and Springdale. No Democrat is running for the seat.

Caskey received 1,530 votes and Shull received 1,504 according the the SC Election Commission. Caskey got 50.43 percent of the vote to 49.57 percent for Shull.
