The fourth annual Midlands Gives was Tuesday.

Midlands Gives is a 24-hour giving event and encourages individuals to donate online to their choice among more than 300 nonprofits in 11 Midlands counties.

Mayors Elsie Partin, Cayce; Michael Bishop, Springdale and David Busbee, Pine Ridge were on hand at the S.C. State Museum in Columbia to give. They shot basketballs for charity. For every basket made money donation went to a non-profit.

Beginning SC helps families of children with hearing loss in South Carolina. Executive Director Cara Senterfeit has been a part of Midlands Gives since it began four years ago.

“We had some issues with some of our funding recently, so the timing is good for Midlands Give,” Senterfeit said. She said that the funds Beginnings SC receives from the 24-hour donating event are essential. She also said the pace of donations for her program is better this year than it was last year. “We’re very appreciative of Midlands Give. We’re so glad to be a part of it.”

Midlands Gives is presented by the Central Carolina Community Foundation.
