West Columbia City Council voted to declare May 4th as Coach Dawn Staley Day in the City of West Columbia. Staley is the coach of the University of South Carolina Women’s Basketball team that won the NCAA National Championship in April. The coach is a West Columbia resident.

Staley attended the West Columbia city Council meeting Tuesday where she received a standing ovation from everyone in attendance. Mayor Pro-Tem Trevor Bedell presented a proclamation with the details of Dawn Staley Day.
