Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died of a gunshot wound sustained at approximately 10 a.m. on Wednesday, in a wooded area at the end of Adams Terrace Court in Dixiana.

According to Fisher, Mr. Raymond Antonio Metze, 28, of Leesville was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Mr. Metze’s death was the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Prior to turning the gun on himself, Mr. Metze abducted a woman, with whom he had previously been in a relationship, from Lexington and shot her multiple times. She is expected to make a full recovery. The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
