The West Columbia Police Department is investigating a murder, said Assistant Police Chief Scott Morrison.

He said the murder occurred on North Lucas Street, Tuesday.
The victim is a male who died as a result of gunshot. He was found dead when officers arrived on the scene.

Morrison said the investigation is in the early stages and there is no more information currently. The Lexington County Coroner’s Office has not released the identity of the man who was shot.
