
Man outside of his vehicle is hit and killed on I-26 on-ramp in West Columbia, Wednesday, Coroner identifies
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died in a two-vehicle crash on the westbound I-26 on-ramp at mile marker 113 (at US 1) in West Columbia. The collision occurred on Wednesday, at approximately 3:06 p.m.
According to Fisher, Daniel James White, 60, of Landrum, SC, was outside of his vehicle on the shoulder of the entrance ramp when a vehicle left the roadway and struck him. Mr. White was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the incident.
