Man loses control of vehicle, hits tree in fatal I-20 crash

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died in a vehicle collision.  It  occurred near mile marker 62 on I-20 eastbound at approximately 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

According to Fisher, Mr. Jacklin Philippe, 29, of Fayetteville, NC was pronounced dead at an area hospital a short time after the accident.

The cause of death was due to multiple traumatic injuries. Philippe, who was traveling at a high rate of speed, lost control, and collided with a guardrail, then a tree. He was not wearing a seat belt when the incident occurred.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
