Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died as a result
of a vehicle vs moped accident in the 4000 block of Fish Hatchery Road, Gaston in
Lexington County between 10:00 P.M. and 11:00 P.M. on Monday, January 2.

According to Fisher, Mr. Darrell Ferris Branham, 37, of Leesville was traveling
southbound on Fish Hatchery Road when he was struck from behind by a vehicle.

Mr. Branham, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, was transported to an
area hospital where he was pronounced dead due to the injuries sustained. The driver of
the vehicle failed to stop and left the scene.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol MAIT team continues to investigate the incident.
