Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died in a motorcycle vs vehicle accident at Juniper Springs Road near Wire Road in the Gilbert area of Lexington County at approximately 8:30 p.m.. on Friday.

According to Fisher, Mr. Christopher Lee Wingard, 39, of Leesville was traveling southbound on Juniper Springs Road when he stopped in the roadway. An SUV also traveling southbound struck the rear of the motorcycle. Mr. Wingard was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead due to the injuries sustained in the collision.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol continue to investigate the incident.
