Man dies after being shot at Lexington apartment complex
Lexington Police detectives are actively investigating an early morning homicide that occurred at the Lauren Ridge Apartments off of Augusta Road in the Town of Lexington, according to Lexington police Chief Chief Terrence Green.
At approximately 2 a.m., Saturday, officers responded to a shooting call at the complex and found a man outside in the stairway who had been shot in the upper body. Officers provided aid until Lexington County EMS arrived and transported the victim to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
This investigation is in its early stages and this shooting appears to be an isolated incident. Apartment complex residents are no longer asked to shelter in place and the subjects involved fled from the scene immediately after it occurred.
Detectives believe residents of the apartment complex may have seen or heard what lead up to the shooting or have home security cameras that captured footage of the subjects and the vehicle driven to the complex.
Anyone who witnessed this incident, has home security footage, seen social media postings, or has other information that would be helpful in this case is asked to contact Detective Payton at 803-358-7271 or [email protected].
