Man died after being pinned by machinery at Michelin Plant in Lexington, coroner identifies

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died while
working at the Michelin Plant located at 2420 Two Notch Road in Lexington
County shortly before 9:30 A.M. on Thursday.

According to Fisher, Mr. Mark S. Lepkowski, 57, of Pelion was found pinned between machinery by co-workers. EMS responded and Mr. Lepkowski was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead. An autopsy was performed on Friday, with a preliminary cause of death as compressional asphyxia.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office along with the Occupational Safety and Health
Administration continues to investigate the incident.
