The S.C. Highway Patrol chased a man Thursday morning and the pursuit ended in a crash at the Cayce Waffle House on Airport Boulevard.

As a result Gregory Alexander Maxwell, 27, was charged with DUI, failure to stop for blue a light, and driving while uninsured.
Maxwell drove past a trooper on I-26 at a high rate of speed, according to a highway patrol report. As troopers tried to catch up to his vehicle, the suspect left the interstate at exit 113. He then attempted to pull his car into the Waffle House parking lot. Instead, the vehicle ran directly into the side of the building.

Maxwell was transported to the Lexington County Detention Center.
According to the Cayce Department of Public Safety there were no injuries, and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is investigating. The Cayce Waffle House is still open.
