Man arrested in connection to 2021 Cayce homicide case, says Cayce Police

After years of continued investigative efforts and the suspect’s repeated attempts to evade law enforcement, an individual wanted in connection with a Cayce homicide has been taken into custody and charged.

In the early morning hours of June 14, 2021, Cayce Police officers responded to the area of Groover Circle at Westwood Mobile Home Park after a report of a suspicious vehicle with a male slumped over the steering wheel. Officers located the male deceased from a gunshot wound to the head.

The investigation determined that Alberto Osorio Mendoza and the victim had been together earlier that evening when an altercation occurred, leading to the victim being shot and Mendoza fleeing the scene. Throughout the investigation, Mendoza was found to have used multiple aliases in an effort to avoid apprehension.

On December 1, 2025, a tip received by the North Charleston Police Department led to Mendoza’s location. That information was provided to the United States Marshals Service, who assisted with locating and arresting Mendoza. He was again found using an alias at the time of his arrest.

Mendoza was transported to the Lexington County Detention Center, where he was denied bond on the murder charge.

The Cayce Police Department thanks the North Charleston Police Department and the United States Marshals Service for their assistance in this arrest.
