Man, age 73, identified as victim of fatal two-vehicle accident on Fish Hatchery Road in Lexington County
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the person who died in a two-vehicle accident in the 3400 block of Fish Hatchery Road in the Gaston area of Lexington County at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Christmas Eve.
According to Fisher, Mr. William Frederick Orris, 73, of Gaston was traveling southbound on Fish Hatchery Road when he was hit by a vehicle traveling northbound on Fish Hatchery Road. Mr. Orris, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead on the scene.
The fatality was the result of the crash, according to Cpl. Nick Pye of the South Carolina Highway Patrol. He said a 2014 Nissan SUV and a 2014 Kia SUV collided on Fish Hatchery Road near Sand Mountain Road around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday night. Orris was killed in the crash and the driver of the other vehicle was charged with DUI.
The driver of the other vehicle was also transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office, the South Carolina Highway Patrol, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol MAIT continue to investigate the incident.
