Man accused of stalking is arrested with weapons by Lexington Police
Curtis Mario Joyeux, age 32 of Columbia, was arrested on Saturday evening, during a traffic stop. He is accused to making text messages threats, according to Lexington Police Chief Terrence Green.
On Friday, an officer met with a victim who said that over the last week, she had received threatening text messages from Curtis Joyeux where he said that he would kill her and members of her family. A warrant for Unlawful Communication was issued for Curtis Joyeux and officers were actively searching for him.
At 6:50 p.m., the victim called 9-1-1 saying that Curtis Joyeux, along with at least one of his friends, had been at her apartment knocking on the door several times. She told the dispatcher that they were in a black Dodge Charger with dark tinted windows and were leaving the apartment complex.
Officers who were nearby saw the vehicle on Sunset Boulevard make an improper turn and conducted a traffic stop. They found Curtis Joyeux in the vehicle and he was placed under arrest. Also in the vehicle were Twavon Keandre Williams, age 21 of Columbia, and Ladeera Satona Miller, age 22 of Columbia.
During a search of the vehicle, officers found three loaded firearms which were unlawfully carried along with a small amount of marijuana. All three were arrested and transported to the Lexington County Detention Center for booking procedures.
Curtis Joyeux has been charged with Unlawful Communication, Stalking, Unlawful Carry of a Firearm, and Simple Possession of Marijuana. When seen at Lexington County Bond Court, he was given a bond of $6,500 with a requirement for GPS ankle monitoring and no contact with the victim. He is federally prohibited from possessing a firearm due to his past criminal record and this case will be forwarded to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for follow-up.
While at the Lexington County Detention Center, Curtis Joyeux continued to try to contact the victim by telephone and a warrant for Harassment has been served to him. He has not been to Bond Court on that charge yet.
Twavon Williams has been charged with Unlawful Carry of a Firearm, Driving Under Suspension, and Improper Turn. He was given a personal recognizance bond when he was seen at Lexington County Bond Court.
Ladeera Miller has been charged with Unlawful Carry of a Firearm and when seen at Lexington County Bond Court, she was given a personal recognizance bond.
