Lot cleared for new District 2 school on Bulldog Blvd
Work is progressing at the site of the new Lexington 2 elementary school on Bulldog Boulevard in Cayce. Ground was broken for the school on April 18.
The new campus off the 12th Street Extension will house Taylor Elementary School and Davis Early Childhood Center for Technology.
Cost estimates for the 145,000-sq-ft. school are projected at $29 million. That’s $2 million lower than originally budgeted. The school is being built to to hold up-to 1,200 students. Grades K-through 2 will be housed on the first floor and the classrooms for grades 3-through-5 will be on the second floor.
The site is next-to Busbee Creative Center for the Arts – a middle school. District 2’s Career and Technology (or CATE) Center will be built adjacent to the new school. The new school is funded by a voter-approved bond referendum.
