Cayce Man Arrested on
Sexual Exploitation of a Minor Charges
South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced, Thursday, the arrest of Fritz Edward Neiger (DOB: 1950) of Cayce, in connection with seven charges associated with the sexual exploitation of minors.
Special Investigators from the Attorney General’s Office, working with the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, made the arrest. Assistance was provided by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Office, also a member of the S.C. ICAC Task Force, and the Cary (N.C.) Police Department (a member of the North Carolina ICAC Task Force).
Investigators with the Attorney General’s Office received a referral from the Cary Police Department indicating Neiger was involved in the sharing of files containing child pornography. During the course of the investigation, CyberTipline Reports received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children indicated images depicting children engaged in sexual activity were disseminated from an email account traced to Neiger’s residence. A search warrant was executed at Neiger’s residence on July 23, 2015 by special investigators from the Attorney General’s Office and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Office. Computers and related media were seized for further examination.
Neiger was arrested and charged with seven (7) counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor second degree (§16-15-405), a felony offense punishable by up to ten (10) years imprisonment on each count.
The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.
Attorney General Wilson stressed all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
