Lexington woman, 21, accused of shooting a man to death at a home in West Columbia

A Lexington woman has been accused of shooting a man to death Tuesday night at a home in West Columbia.

McKenzie Leigh Brady, 21, is charged with murder, according to an arrest warrant.

The victim has been identified as 57-year-old Joel Todd McCullough, according to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher.

“Deputies went to the scene, which is McCullough‘s home, in the 2700 block of Leaphart Road after a 911 call about a gunshot wound,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “A witness told deputies he heard a ‘loud gunshot’ after an argument.”

Deputies obtained a search warrant to search the residence and found a gun, according to Koon.

“Brady told deputies she and McCullough knew each other for some time,” Koon said. “This was an isolated incident and detectives are still looking into what led up to the shooting.”

Deputies arrested Brady and took her to the Lexington County Detention Center, according to Koon.

She is being held at the jail after a magistrate judge denied her bond Wednesday.
