Thanksgiving is a time of traditions, and Lexington Two schools have plenty of them. From Thanksgiving-focused math and reading lessons, to food drives and lunches, crafts and baking, learning is fun and memorable this time of year.
Below is a sampling of events marking the Thanksgiving season in Lexington Two schools. The district is on break from November 25-29, with schools and offices reopening on December 2.
- Photo 1 – In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, second-graders at Lexington School District Two’s Springdale Elementary read Balloons Over Broadway and made their very own balloons for a “Balloons Over Hallway” at the school.
- Photo 3 – Principal Annette Ariail (center, back) read ‘Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving to classes at Lexington School District Two’s Springdale Elementary.
- Photo 4 – Culinary Arts students at the Lexington Two Innovation Center held their annual Thanksgiving Holiday Bake Sale, open to district families for purchase, making from scratch 37 pound cakes, 29 pies, 350 rolls, 468 cookies and more!
- Photos 5 and 6 – Service is an important part of the Thanksgiving holiday for Lexington School District Two students. Here, Fulmer Middle School students Sophia Penwarden, left, and Arianna Helgeson pose with some of the donations made to a food drive sponsored by the Beta Club and 8th Grade Mentor Group, while Pine Ridge Middle School students Tahlia Redd, Kai Turner, Jayden Rogers and Kieara Thomas promote the food drive sponsored by the National Junior Honor Society.
