Lexington Two schools dismissing early Tuesday due to bad weather forecast
Due to forecasts of high winds, severe thunderstorms, and possible tornadoes that could make bus travel hazardous, Lexington Two schools will dismiss students early on Tuesday, April 5.
Dismissal times will be 11 a.m. for elementary schools, 11:45 a.m. for middle schools, 12:00 p.m. for the Lexington Two Innovation Center, and 12:30 p.m. for high schools.
All afternoon and evening activities are canceled for Tuesday, including athletic events, extracurricular activities, after-school programs and adult education classes.
The latest National Weather Service forecast includes the possibility of severe thunderstorms, wind gusts of up to 70 miles per hour, tornadoes, and heavy rains, all of which can produce travel conditions that will likely exceed the SC Department of Education’s safe school bus operation guidelines.
The decision for an early release was made in consultation with local, school and county officials on weather forecasts. The district will continue to monitor weather conditions and will communicate with Lexington Two stakeholders should any further updates be necessary.
