Lexington Two announces new assistant principals
Lexington Two has announced new assistant principals for the 2022-2023 school year.
At its board meeting on May 19, on the recommendation of Acting Superintendent Barry Bolen, the Lexington Two Board of Trustees approved the hiring of assistant principals Dr. Hawanya Amaker and Amy Tribble at Cayce Elementary School, Cheryl Talton at Airport High School, Morgen Sightler at Congaree Elementary, and Andrew Price at Wood Elementary.
Dr. Amaker has been a teacher at Wood Elementary since 2019, and held earlier positions as an elementary teacher and ED/self-contained teacher in Lexington Two. She also previously served as a Project Read coordinator at Southern Wesleyan University and worked as a temporary administrative assistant in the Department of Certification/Teacher Quality. She received a bachelor’s degree from Coastal Carolina University, a master’s degree from Webster University, and a doctoral degree from SC State University.
Tribble, who joined Lexington Two in 2013, is currently a reading coach at Cayce Elementary. In addition to her current role, she also served as a teacher at Davis Elementary and lead interventionist at Cayce Elementary. She started her career in education in 2009 as an early childhood teacher at Woodruff Primary School in Spartanburg Four. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina and a master’s degree from Southern Arkansas University.
Talton started her education career in Lexington Two in 2001 at Airport High School, where she has served as a math teacher and administrative assistant/teacher. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina and a master’s degree from Southern Wesleyan University.
Sightler has served as a 5K teacher at Springdale Elementary since 2021. She first joined Lexington Two in 2015 at Springdale as a kindergarten-first grade teacher. She received a bachelor’s degree from Winthrop University and a master’s degree from Anderson University.
Price has served as a PE teacher at Riverbank Elementary since 2018. He joined Lexington Two in 2014 as a PE teacher at BC Grammar No. 1. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina and a master’s degree from American College of Education.
Meanwhile, Leonard Frierson will become the assistant principal/hearing officer at New Bridge Academy. He has served in a number of roles in the district since arriving in 1996, among them principal, assistant principal, and teacher, and he is a former member of the US Army Reserve. He received a bachelor’s degree and M.Ed. from the University of South Carolina and a master’s degree from SC State University.
Two other assistant principals were previously announced: Ashley Caulder at Cayce Elementary, currently an ID Self-Contained Moderate teacher at Congaree Elementary; and Kellie Worley at Pine Ridge Middle, currently a math teacher at the school.
All will begin their new roles on July 1.
