Lexington Police negotiators respond to home where alleged kidnapping was taking place
The Lexington Police Department Emergency Services Team (EST) and Crisis Negotiations Unit officers were activated in Lexington Sunday night. Officers were at a home in the 100 block of Palm Court with a barricaded man refusing to cooperate with law enforcement. Access into the neighborhood was restricted and residents were asked to shelter in place.

Town of Lexington issued the release below:
– Chief Terrence Green would like to notify the Town of Lexington community of an arrest made as a result of barricaded standoff in the 100 block of Palm Court on Sunday, September 22, 2024.
Officers were dispatched to a call involving the kidnapping of a female individual. Upon further
investigation, it was discovered that the subject held the victim against her will for several hours.
The victim had been assaulted during this time frame. She was able to escape and notify law
enforcement.
At approximately 7:00 p.m., officers attempted contact with the subject. The subject remained
uncooperative. The Emergency Services Team (EST) and the Crisis Negotiations Unit were
activated. After negotiations failed to surrender the subject, EST was able to extract the subject
without further incident.
Keith Dwayne Miles, age 57, of Lexington, was transported to Lexington Medical Center for
treatment and evaluation. He has been charged with Assault and Battery, High and Aggravated
and Kidnapping. Upon release from the hospital, he will be transported to Lexington County
Detention Center to await bond court in the morning.
