Lexington Police arrest man for dissemination of obscene material to a minor

Chief Terrence Green is announcing the arrest of Tyler Shane Greene, age 26 of Augusta, Georgia, from an undercover investigation where he asked for nude photographs, sent nude photographs, and pornography with who he believed was a minor but was instead an undercover detective.

On June 26, a detective with the Lexington Police Department, who is on the South Carolina Attorney General Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC), was contacted by Tyler Greene through social media, believing that the profile was of a young teenage girl.  When the undercover detective told Tyler Greene about her age, he responded by saying that he was 15, then 16, and then admitted that he was 26 years old.  He then asked not to be blocked from her account.  Tyler Greene engaged in continued sexual conversation with the undercover detective and sent nude photographs of himself along with other pornography.  Tyler Greene continued to engage in online conversations with the undercover detective until July 4.

On July 7, Tyler Greene was arrested in North Augusta, South Carolina, with the assistance of the North Augusta Department of Public Safety and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Department.

Tyler Greene has been charged with three counts of Attempted Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, two counts of Attempted Criminal Solicitation of a Minor, and five counts of Attempted Unlawful Dissemination of Obscene Material to a Minor.  He is currently being held at the Lexington County Detention Center, and when he was seen at bond court, his bond was denied.

Due to evidence found during this investigation, detectives strongly believe that underage victims have been involved with Tyler Greene online through social media platforms and meeting minors in person.
