The North Myrtle Beach Department of Public Safety is investigating a shooting death that happened early Saturday morning.

Darris Fowler, deputy coroner of the Horry County Coroner’s Office, said Ryan Burt, 26, died at  Grand Strand Medical Center emergency room at 1:05 a.m. Saturday. Fowler said the victim died from a gunshot wound. According to several news reports, Fowler said Burt is from the Lexington, South Carolina area.

A press release about Burt’s death from the coroner’s office states the incident happened in in the 2300 block of North Ocean Boulevard in North Myrtle Beach.

This incident is under investigation by the North Myrtle Beach Public Safety Department.
