Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died in a motorcycle accident at the intersection of Jim Spence Road and Pat Road in Lexington shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

According to Fisher, Mr. Shane Lee Baxley, 44, of Lexington was traveling eastbound on Jim Spence Road when he collided with a vehicle attempting to turn westbound onto Jim Spence Road from Pat Road. Mr. Baxley, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the collision. The driver of the vehicle was not injured and remained on scene.

The incident is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
