Richland County Coroner Gary Watts released the name of the individual who died in a motorcycle collision that occurred Friday at approximately 7:10 p.m. The incident occurred in the 7600 block of St. Andrews Road, Columbia.

Wade William Brentlinger, 39, of Ashe Street, Lexington, was the driver of the motorcycle. Mr. Brentlinger was transported from the scene by Richland County EMS to Prisma Health Richland Memorial Hospital where he died at 8:34 p.m.

An autopsy indicated the cause of death to be due to blunt force injuries to the head. He was not wearing a helmet, said Watts.  The Richland County Coroner’s Office and the Irmo Police Department are investigating the incident.
