Lexington House Rep. Rick Quinn indicted

The State Grand Jury has indicted Rep. Rick Quinn, Jr. on one count of common law misconduct in officequinn and one count of statutory misconduct in office.

Hours after the indictment was announced, S.C. House Speaker Jay Lucas suspended Quinn from the House.

Quinn issued a statement after the indictment was announced. He said he’s being targeted by a partisan Democrat Quinn also said he is not guilty and he wants to clear up the matter as soon as possible.

“I have done nothing wrong, and I am asking for a speedy trial so this can be resolved as quickly as possible,” said Quinn in the statement.
“I have conducted myself in an honorable manner, and I look forward to clearing my family’s good name,” Quinn said.

According to the indictment, Quinn accepted money “from lobbyists’ principals,” and other groups without reporting “to the appropriate supervisory office.”
Quinn is also said to have committed criminal acts “in order to obtain a personal profit and benefit.”
