Lexington District Two announced today that Ms. Chesley Geyer, a third grade teacher at Pineview Elementary School, has been named the 2016-17 Teacher of the Year.

Ms. Geyer, a 20-year veteran of Lexington Two, was selected by a community panel of judges. In May, she was nominated by her peers at Pineview Elementary School to be their Teacher of the Year. Ms. Geyer represented Springdale Elementary as their Teacher of the Year in 2001.

Ms. Geyer received her Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies – Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from the University of South Carolina. Ms. Geyer serves as a Mentor Teacher for Columbia College Interns.

Ms. Geyer attributes her love for teaching and learning to her parents. She states, “My parents read to me and enjoyed reading themselves. Early in life, they instilled a love of learning and a regard for education.”
