Lexington County woman accused of robbing a convenience store at knifepoint while eating an ice cream bar
A Lexington County woman is accused of robbing a convenience store at knifepoint Monday.

Katrina Nicole Diaz, 39, is charged with armed robbery, three counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to arrest warrants.
“A deputy went to a convenience store on Edmund Highway after dispatch received a call about a robbery in progress,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “When the deputy got there, he saw Diaz standing at the back of the store eating an ice cream bar while holding a knife. He quickly handcuffed and detained her.”
Store employees told deputies Diaz walked into the store early Monday morning and asked to use the store phone, according to Koon.
“She asked to use the phone again after being told it didn’t work and then tried to walk out with a display case of lighters,” Koon said. “Employees told her she couldn’t take the lighters and that’s when she pulled a knife.”
The three employees locked themselves in an office while Diaz, a Gaston resident, walked around the store and destroyed merchandise, according to Koon.
Deputies arrested Diaz after their investigation at the store. She is being held in the Lexington County Detention Center.
