Lexington County voters give Donald Trump a win in the South Carolina Presidential Primary

“I have never seen the Republican Party so unified as it is right now,” Trump said after his primary win in South Carolina.

Haley is the only other candidate still in the GOP presidential nomination race. After her loss Saturday, Haley said she will stay in the primary race at least until Super Tuesday, Super Tuesday is March 5, when 15 states will hold primaries.

Statewide, Trump received almost 452,000 votes compared to about 299,000 for Haley. There 756,000 votes cast.

Trump won Lexington County, the county Haley once called home and represented in the State House. Trump received 58 percent of the vote to 41 percent for Haley. Trump got 27,000 votes in Lexington County to 19,000 for Haley in the county’s 96 precincts. Voter turnout in Lexington County was 26 percent.

Haley won in Richland County, Saturday. She got 48 percent of the vote compared to Trump’s 41 percent. Haley got 19,000 votes compared to 14,000 for Trump. Voter turnout in Richland County was 13 percent in 149 precincts.

President Joe Biden received 127,000 votes in the Democratic Presidential Primary on Feb. 8. He faced no major challenger, He won 96 percent of the vote in the primary.
