Lexington County to offer financial assistance to residents impacted by COVID
Lexington County residents who have experienced financial difficulty in paying rent, mortgage and utilities as a result of COVID-19 will soon be able to seek financial relief through the County of Lexington’s LexCo CARES plan.
Community Development Block Grant – CV funds, made available through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, will be available for low- to moderate-income families throughout Lexington County in an effort to help offset the financial hardships of job loss, loss of working hours and loss of income caused by the pandemic.
Renters and homeowners will be able to apply for up to six consecutive months of rental, mortgage and utility financial assistance. Eligible applicants must be Lexington County residents and must have an annual income that is at or below 80% of the area median income. Residents must also be able to prove that they are past due or unable to pay all or part of their rent, mortgage and utilities.
The County’s Department of Community Development is proposing the LexCo CARES plan as an amendment to its 2019-2020 Annual Action Plan for its CDBG program. Written comments for these COVID-19-related amendments to the action plan will be accepted through April 6, 2021. Residents can submit their comments to:
