Lexington County Sheriff’s Department issues an update regarding man found stabbed to death inside a burning house on Saturday

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department issued an update after a man was found stabbed to death inside a burning house on Saturday night in Lexington County. The sheriff’s department said there is no ongoing threat to the community on Oak Ridge Lane.

At the time of the fire, investigators found another man with several injuries, in a shed, on the property.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identified the man who died in the home as Caldwell Melton Motley, 38. Fisher said he died from multiple stab wounds.

The second man, who was found in the shed with multiple injuries, was taken to the hospital. He has undergone surgeries and is expected to survive, according to the sheriff’s department. His identity has not been released.

Investigators have leads in the case and have a person of interest. No more details details have been released.
