The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department reported being in the early phases of a death investigation around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Deputies were investigating reports of a body seen in a retention pond near the Amazon facility on 12th Street Ext.

Detectives and crime scene investigators were at the location. Their work will continue for some time. Amazon officials are coordinating with investigators to ensure the security of the scene.
