Lexington County is one of 5 in South Carolina with more than 100 COVID-19 deaths

Lexington is one of five South Carolina counties with more than 100 COVID-19 deaths, according to the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control.

In Lexington County, 102 people had died of coronavirus, as of Monday afternoon.

Greenville County led the state in coronavirus deaths with 180. Richland County was second with 139. Horry County had 128 coronavirus deaths and Charleson had 161. Florence County recorded 99 coronavirus deaths as of Monday, according to DHEC.

Statewide, 1,721 have died of coronavirus. On July 22, 55 people died of COVID-19. That is the date of the highest number of deaths. On Monday, DHEC reported that 11 had died of coronavirus, statewide.

More than 92,000 have tested positive for coronavirus.

In Lexington County, there have been 4,621 who have tested positive for coronavirus.

In the West Columbia, Cayce and Springdale ZIP codes, 1,042 have tested positive. In the 29033 ZIP code of Cayce, 225 positive tests were reported by DHEC. There were 473 positive tests in the West Columbia ZIP code of 29169 and 344 positive tests in the 29170 ZIP code of Springdale-West Columbia.
