Lexington County Fire Service, with West Columbia Fire, Cayce Fire Departments respond to mobile home fire, 5 adults, 4 children displaced
Lexington County Fire Service units responded to a call for a fire around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, in the 3900 block of Charleston Highway.
Crews from the West Columbia Fire Department and City of Cayce Fire Department also responded to the scene.
First arriving units saw fire showing from a single-wide mobile home and began an aggressive interior attack. After a quick knockdown, crews checked for extension, ventilated, and overhauled to confirm the fire had been put out.
No injuries were reported and the American Red Cross was notified to assist with the displacement of five adults and four children. The cause was determined to be accidental after a lit candle was placed too close to combustible material.
If you have candles in your home, please never leave a burning candle unattended, and keep them a safe distance away from things such as furniture, bedding, curtains, or other things that could catch fire.
