Lexington County deputies apprehended a man wanted on a federal charge Tuesday after an hours-long search near Lake Murray.

Brandon Gentle, 32, was wanted on a federal court bond violation out of Huntsville, Alabama. The original charge for which he’d received bond is conspiracy to distribute dangerous drugs-prescription narcotics.

“One of our deputies responded to a call overnight about a suspicious vehicle on Beulah Church Road and found Gentle inside the car,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “He was able to identify Gentle during a brief encounter but Gentle fled on foot.”

Multiple Lexington County units responded and patrolled the area on foot and in vehicles, Koon said. Gentle eventually gave up within the primary search area.

“Based on what we’ve confirmed about Gentle, he has no ties to the area,” Koon said. “It seems as though he was just randomly passing through on the run.”

No local charges will be filed against Gentle, Koon said.
