
Lexington County Coroner releases the identity of the man who died in a three-vehicle hit-and-run collision, Wednesday
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has released the identity of the person who was killed in a three-vehicle collision involving a tractor-trailer on Wednesday at the intersection of W.E. Jeffcoat Road and Hwy 6 in the Swansea area of Lexington County at approximately 6:50 a.m.
Fisher states that Mr. Donerell M. Lykes, 36, of Columbia was operating a vehicle that was
traveling north on W.E. Jeffcoat Road when he failed to stop for the stop sign at W.E. Jeffcoat Road at
Hwy 6 and his vehicle was struck in the intersection by a tractor-trailer traveling east on Hwy 6. Mr. Lykes, who was not wearing a seatbelt was ejected from his vehicle and was then struck by another vehicle that was traveling west on Hwy 6. The 3rd vehicle left the scene of the accident prior to arrival of first responders. Mr. Lykes was pronounced dead at the scene from the injuries he sustained in the accident.
The accident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol MAIT and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office.
