Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the person who died in a two-vehicle accident in the 200 block of Muddy Springs Road in the Lexington area of Lexington County on Saturday, at approximately 12:55 p.m.

According to Fisher, Mr. Michael Leon Rather, 62, of Lexington was traveling eastbound on Muddy Springs Road when he was struck head-on by a vehicle traveling westbound on Muddy Springs Road. Mr. Rather, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the vehicle was transported to an area hospital with injuries.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol continue to investigate the incident.
