Lexington County Coroner identifies woman who died in crash near Pelion
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the person who died in a single vehicle
accident that occurred in the 2300 of block of Pine Street in the Pelion area of Lexington County at approximately 6:15 p.m., Sunday.
According to Fisher, Ms. Katie Lee Kelly, 26, of Salley, was travelling eastbound on Pine
Street when her vehicle left the road on the left side of the road and overturned. Ms. Kelly, who
was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, was pronounced dead at the scene from the injuries
she sustained.
An adult passenger in the vehicle was transported to an area hospital with serious
injuries. A minor child who was also a passenger in the vehicle declined medical attention and was
released at the scene. Both passengers were wearing their seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate
the incident.
