Lexington County Coroner identifies woman killed after being struck by vehicle, driver fled the scene

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the person who died in a vehicle vs.
pedestrian accident in the 100 block of Hartley Quarter Road, in the Pelion area of Lexington County on
Saturday, at approximately 7:10 P.M.

According to Coroner Fisher, Ms. Madelein Lopez-Resendiz, 25, of Pelion was walking westbound on
Hartley Quarter Road when she was struck by a vehicle also traveling westbound on Hartley Quarter
Road. Ms. Lopez-Resendiz was pronounced dead on scene due to the injuries sustained in the collision.
The driver did not stop and fled the scene.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office, the South Carolina Highway Patrol, and the South Carolina
Highway Patrol MAIT continue to investigate the incident.
