Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the person who died in a single vehicle
accident that occurred in the 500 block of Old Charleston Road in the Pelion area of Lexington County at approximately 8:40 p.m. on Sunday.

According to Fisher, Mr. Walter Leighton King, 69, of Pelion was traveling northbound on Old
Charleston Road when his vehicle left the roadway on the right side striking a utility pole and then
overturning.

Mr. King, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, was pronounced
dead at the scene from the injuries he sustained. The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office is continue to investigate
this incident.
