
Lexington County Coroner identifies the person who died in a two-vehicle accident on S. Lake Drive and I-20 overpass, Thursday
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the person who died in a two-vehicle accident on S. Lake Drive and I-20 overpass in the Lexington area of Lexington County, Thursday.
According to Fisher, Ms. Trinity Dasani Jones, 22, of Columbia was the passenger in a vehicle that exited I-20, crossed a median, and struck a vehicle head-on that was traveling westbound on S. Lake Drive. Ms. Jones, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead due to her injuries. The driver of the vehicle was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Town of Lexington Police Department issued a statement regarding the crash:
Chief Terrence Green would like to notify the Town of Lexington community of an early morning vehicular fatality in the 900 block of South Lake Drive at Interstate 20.
At approximately 7:30am on June 5, 2025, a Toyota Scion exited Interstate 20 Westbound by way of Exit 55 (Lexington). The vehicle crossed multiple lanes of traffic upon leaving the off ramp. An Acura, travelling outbound on South Lake Drive, struck the Toyota and a collision ensued. The passenger of the Toyota was transported to Lexington Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. Her identity will be released by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office when it is appropriate.
