The Lexington County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who was killed in a crash on I-26 east near West Columbia just after midnight on Sunday, Aug. 10.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said 24-year-old Jose Rivas died when he ran off the road, hit a guardrail and overturned on eastbound I-26 at mile marker 117. The victim lived in west Columbia.

The coroner said he was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.

SC Highway Patrol is investigating.
