Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the person who died in a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision near the intersection of Highway 321 and Wilbur Road in the Gaston area of Lexington County on April 14, 2026 at approximately 1:10 a.m.

According to Fisher, Mr. Mark Bartholomew Mack , 49, of Gaston was walking northbound in the southbound lanes when he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound. Mr. Mack was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and was transported to an area hospital. 

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol continue to investigate the incident.
