Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has positively identified the person who died in a vehicle vs pedestrian accident at the intersection of Mountain Drive and Chapin Road in the Chapin area of Lexington County on Friday, at approximately 9:35 PM.

According to Coroner Fisher, Ms. Tonya Mayers Bowers, 59, of Chapin was walking on Mountain Drive when she was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound on Mountain Drive. Ms. Bowers was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol continue to investigate the incident.
