Lexington County Coroner, Margaret Fisher, has identified the person who died as the result of a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision in the 1500 block of Bush River Road in the Columbia area of Lexington County shortly before 10 p.m., Friday.

According to Fisher, Mr. Jacob Roy Jones Jr., 68, of Columbia, was crossing Bush River Road when he was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on Bush River Road.  

Mr. Jones was pronounced dead on scene due to his injuries sustained in the accident.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the incident.
