Lexington County Coroner identifies man who died in automobile accident, Wednesday

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the person who died in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of US 321 and Gardners Terrace Road (about one mile south of Pine Ridge) in Lexington County, Wednesday, at approximately 1 p.m.

According to Fisher, Mr. Marcus Holmes Jr., 31, of Gaston, was traveling southbound on US 321
when he was struck by a Mercedes sedan, said Master Trooper William Bennett of the SCHP. The Mercedes qas traveling eastbound on Gardners Terrace Road which caused Mr. Holmes, who was driving a 2020 Nissan Rogue, to leave the left side of the road hitting a utility pole. Mr. Holmes, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle was not transported for injuries.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol continue to investigate the incident.
