Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died
after being struck by a vehicle in the 200 block of Jamil Road in the Columbia area of
Lexington County shortly before 6 p.m., Saturday.

According to Fisher, Mr. Daniel Nelson Gibbons III, 68, of Columbia was walking
on Jamil Road when he was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on Jamil Road. Mr.
Gibbons was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead due to the
injuries he sustained in the collision.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
