Lexington County Coroner identifies man on motorcycle who hit deer and was killed

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died in a motorcycle accident in the 2400 block of St. Matthews Road, Swansea in Lexington County shortly before 8:30 P.M. on Sunday.

According to Fisher, Mr. Charles William Lutz, 50, of St. Matthews was traveling eastbound on St. Matthews Road when he collided with a deer. Mr. Lutz, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead due to the injuries sustained.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
