Lexington School District Two Board Member ElizaBeth “Beth” Branham was elected as secretary-treasurer of the National School Boards Association (NSBA) Board of Directors during the NSBA Delegate Assembly on Friday in Denver, Co. Branham is past president of the South Carolina School Boards Association and previous NSBA Southern Region Director.

Becky Bean, communications manager for the S.C. School Boards Association, announced Branham’s election in a release, Tuesday.
This appointment puts Branham in line to potentially become NSBA president, which would be a known first for South Carolina.
“I congratulate Beth on her election as NSBA secretary-treasurer. Beth is a leading advocate for public education and students in South Carolina and I am confident that she will be an excellent addition to the NSBA executive board,” said SCSBA Executive Director Scott Price, adding, “SCSBA is so proud of Beth – she represents the highest standard in practicing good board governance.”

Branham was elected to the Lexington Two board in 2000. A former English teacher, she is an attorney in West Columbia. She was elected to the SCSBA Board of Directors in 2008.

Branham received a juris doctorate degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in English from Boston University. She is a member of the West Metro Chamber of Commerce and a member of both the Airport High School and Brookland-Cayce High School Educational Foundations.
